#WorldBookDay – All plans are on ice so curl up with a good #Cookbook First published in 1977, Mrs Allen wrote “Cooking is like a language. You hear other people speak, you taste what other people cook, you read what they have to say & then you go and do it yourself.. ” #StaySafe
Every year in April the #Kale sprouts and produces flowers. The leaves get very tender and are delicious in salads, and the flowers can be used as a wonderful spring vegetable. Our favourite time of year for Kale.
We reopen today and are delighted to welcome guests back to Ballymaloe House Hotel, with a wonderful new addition at the heart of the house, a brand-new, purpose-built kitchen.
For over sixty years, we have cooked with the seasons, using produce grown in our gardens, on the farm, and from local producers and with a deep respect for the ingredients. Now, that philosophy is matched by a kitchen designed to the highest modern standards, created to support our team and the next generation of chefs.
Custom-designed by Trevor O’Sullivan Cork Bar & Catering Equipment Ltd and manufactured in Italy by Marrone Custom Cooking the new space brings chefs, pastry, prep, and wash-up together in one open, beautifully organised layout, built for calm creativity and seamless service.
“My team and I are very excited to reopen today and to begin cooking in our newly rebuilt kitchen,” says Executive Head Chef Dervilla O’Flynn. “After years of reimagining the space, we have created a calm, beautifully organised kitchen that supports both chefs and front of house. It is the heart of the house, and a real milestone for our team.”
We look forward to welcoming you back. Book your table or stay: ballymaloe.ie
ballymaloecookeryschool New season potatoes are being dug daily here at Ballymaloe Cookery School and delivered up to the Farm Shop by the hardworking gardeners. The pic of @rachelallencooks is from last year when everyone (literally) dug in during the lockdown and helped out anywhere they could. Thank goodness things are begining to look a little more normal. Swing by the shop and grab a bag of Homegrown Organic Spuds at The Farm Shop. Bring them home and gently boil in salted water, slather with some delicious butter and a sprinkling of @maldonsalt. It couldn’t be more #SimplyDelicious
Our team on the farm snapped this photo of our beautiful wildflower patch using native Irish wildflower seeds that provide essential food to feed our bees and natural pollinators. #SaveTheBees#IrishWildflowers#NativeIrishPollinators
Little rain today, giving the plants a boost, julie found a horse shoe while forking over a bed. There was luck in the rain today. #farmtofork#tasteofcavan#virginaparklodge
We are delighted to be working with the Dunne family from @KillowenFarm in Co. Wexford to source our Irish Made Yogurts. The yogurt is made with milk from the Dunne family’s dairy herd. They also produce the berry compotes for our yogurts using Irish grown fruit.
