Mary Flahavan’s Quick Apple Porridge

Quick Apple Porridge
This recipe avoids milk altogether and so would be ideal for anyone on a dairy-free diet.
Ingredients
40g (1½ oz) or 2 scoops of Flahavan’s Quick Oats
170 ml (1/3 pint) of apple juice
Pinch of cinnamon
Sliced apple
Cooking and Serving Instructions
  1. Mix the oats with the apple juice in a deep bowl.
  2. Microwave for 2-3 minutes stirring occasionally until the juice is absorbed. Add more juice if necessary.
  3. Leave to stand for 1 minute.
  4. Stir and serve topped with sliced apple and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

3 MINUTE PORRIDGE
Instructions

Makes 2 x 40g servings on the hob.

Stir one cupful of Flahavan’s Progress Oatlets  into 2½ cupfuls of water or milk.
Bring to the boil and cook for 3 minutes stirring continuously.
To serve:
Pour porridge into serving dish.  Scatter fruit such as raspberries,blueberries, apple, strawberries or bananas on top.
Add milk or cream to taste.
Alternatively, serve with some honey, yogurt or seeds.
Quick Tips
For a creamier porridge, try soaking the oats in milk or water in the fridge overnight. Cooking time can be reduced if you soak the oats overnight.
If you prefer, you can also use half water and half milk.
For extra plump and juicy fruit, soak dried fruit such as raisins or sultanas in apple juice and they will keep in the fridge for several days.

Overnight Oats Toasted Coconut & Chia Jam

Craving a new Overnight Oats combo? Try these!

Serves 2|Takes 12 hours

INGREDIENTS:

100g Flahavan’s Apple & Raspberry Overnight Oats
180ml coconut milk
4 tbsp raspberry chia jam (recipe below)
2 tbsp coconut yogurt
15g toasted coconut flakes
Raspberries for topping

Raspberry and chia jam:
50g raspberries
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 tsp maple syrup
½ tsp vanilla essence
1 tbsp water

METHOD:

Combine Flahavan’s Apple & Raspberry Overnight Oats and coconut milk together in a bowl.
Cover and leave overnight.
In the morning, remove the Overnight Oats from the fridge and layer the Overnight Oats with the raspberry chia jam.
Top with the coconut yogurt, toasted coconut flakes and raspberries.

Chia Jam Recipe
Mash the raspberries with the water and stir in all the other ingredients, leave to sit for 5 min while you make the oats.
